About Entrepreneurship 101 - The Course

The Entrepreneurship 101 Course provides a comprehensive nine to twelve week program on the fundamentals of small business management to incarcerated youth and adults, and adults on probation or parole. The goals of the class are to inspire and teach entrepreneurship; to develop students’ self-management skills; and to prevent recidivism.

There are two components to the course: business skills and life skills. In the first part of the course, students are introduced to the meaning of entrepreneurship and the components of the business plan: product and service choice, supply and demand, marketing and market research, advertising, competition and differentiation, budgeting, and finance. The second half of the course focuses on self-management skills: interview skills and résumé writing, negotiation and conflict resolution, networking, and business impact.
